Dose: Annual Influenza Vaccination is recommended every year till 5 years of age
Protects against: Influenza, commonly known as the 'seasonal flu'; a respiratory infection caused by two main types of influenza virus: Types A and B.
To be given: Between 42 to 47 months
How can you help protect your child?
The flu vaccine can be provided as part of routine immunization for infants. Immunity from vaccination wanes over time so annual vaccination may be needed to protect against the flu. Consult with your healthcare professional for further information.
Other protective measures against flu are practicing good hygiene such as regular hand washing with proper drying of the hands and covering mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, self-isolation of those feeling unwell to prevent the spread of the virus to others, avoiding close contact with sick people, and avoiding touching one's eyes, nose or mouth.
CATCH-UP VACCINATION
If you miss out the dose of these vaccinations during the stipulated time, you can consult with your doctor for a Catch-up Vaccination.
